Episode 432: 08-17-17
Jim Fried of Fried On Business talks to Corey Winograd, CEO of BurgerFi, which is one of the nation’s fastest-growing better burger concepts. Winograd has worked with the restaurant chain in multiple roles since its inception, after spending the previous 25 years as a corporate and litigation attorney. Winograd originally served as the restaurant’s outside general counsel, helping BurgerFi’s founders build a business that is now projected to have 100 restaurants open by mid-2017. In 2011, BurgerFi opened its first two restaurants in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and Delray Beach. In 2012, Winograd assumed the position of Managing Director and relocated to Florida. His crucial role in the company led to his appointment as CEO in 2014. During Winograd’s tenure, the restaurant chain has been included in Inc. magazine’s Fastest Growing Private Companies List, recognized among Fast Casual’s Top 50 Movers & Shakers and Top 100 Brands, and ranked on Entrepreneur’s 2017 Franchise 500. The company was also ranked in Technomic’s top three on its list of fastest-growing small chains and received the TripAdvisor 2016 Certificate of Excellence. Jim and Corey discuss the future of the burger.
