Episode 490: 11-01-18
Fried On Business host Jim Fried talks to Chira Cassel, MAPP, the Chief Executive Officer of the Children’s Bereavement Center (CBC) in Miami. Under Chira’s leadership, the CBC has launched a site in Parkland in response to the crime endured by the community and has expanded the CBC Institute to bring grief education and training to the Overtown community.
The Children’s Bereavement Center provides free Peer Support Groups for children, young adults, and adult caregivers after the death of a loved one. Groups are open to anyone who has lost a parent, sibling, grandparent, relative, or friend because of illness, accident, suicide, or homicide. Losses can be recent or in years past. We discuss helping kids cope with loss, what the CBC does and how it gets support.
The CBC Steps for Healing is a 5K run/walk benefiting the Children’s Bereavement Center at Zoo Miami on November 17th. Every $1,000 they raise together sponsors a child for one year at the CBC, maintaining free grief support for all participants!
Jim and Chira discuss the CBC, the event and how you can help.
