Regular listeners to Fried On Business know that we spend a lot of time talking about urban development trends in Miami.
There’s a real move back into the city, and savvy developers are capitalizing on it to create more than just buildings. They’re trying to create walkable neighborhoods.
Related Group is one of those savvy companies, and Auberge Miami is one of its latest projects.
Jon Paul Perez, Vice President of Related Group, and David Staples, Director of Sales for Auberge Miami, joined me on the show to talk about the plan.
The Auberge brand, Perez said, is well-established. The task now is to introduce it to the Miami market.
“As you know, Auberge is known for luxury. Very boutique. The best spas. The best restaurants. Organic foods and treatments. That’s what we’re trying to bring to a more downtown, urban setting. That’s never been done here in Miami,” he said.
Personally, I love the concept, and I particularly like the location at 1224 Biscayne Boulevard. It’s right next to I-295, the Adrienne Arsht Center, and Publix.
“And we have the best views in town,” Staples added.
It also has the Sky Pool Terrace Observatory.
“It’s a beautiful terrace on the 12th floor. Activities will be up there. A private cabana. Grilling areas. A spa. Food and towel service. Pretty much everything you could want on a terrace you’re getting up there,” Perez said.
Now, there are two options for interior design. For the busy people, like me, there are designer suites. These are turnkey units designed by Meyer Davis, Staples said.
Then, there are decorator-ready units, with Related Group providing a list of options.
In all, Auberge will:
– Incorporate three towers, each 60 stories high.
– Feature a luxury hotel component.
– Include 72 designer suites.
– Total 1,000 units at build-out.
– Focus on high-end amenities.
But more than luxury, Auberge is part of Related Group’s emphasis on building neighborhoods – providing a more human environment that meets the need to live, work and play.
Everyone in South Florida is tired of driving, Perez said. People are trying to leave the suburbs and move closer to the urban core. Auberge is there – without being in the middle of Brickell Avenue traffic.
Perez said Related Group – already active in the Arts District with Auberge Miami and Edgewater with Paraiso Bay – is setting its sights on more opportunities to build for locals.
“I think the next thing would be to move to Wynwood. If you go there now, you see tons of people walking there, and there’s no residential yet,” he said.
It was a great interview, and we talked about a lot more, including:
– How the buyer profile is shifting in South Florida.
– Characteristics of the west side of Edgewater.
– A perspective on Biscayne Boulevard.
