- A vacation is about a change of venue. If you cannot change that then change your perspective. Do this by changing your rhythm.
- The first day will be the worst – no one knows you are off and you do not have a vacation rhythm yet and have not calmed down yet.
- Do not answer the phone or read your e mails – except for pre set times – you run the phone – it does not run you!
- Realize you WILL have business dealings – set times to do your business so that you have no conflicts with your relaxation.
- Do things that need to get done. If there is a big task you have been putting off – now is the time to get it done!
- Have no expectations other than that you will relax – somehow – Murphy’s Law will hold – whatever can go wrong –will – role with it.
- Have lots of reading materials, movies and music ready to distract you when things do not go as planned.
- Have a maid come in to help clean the house so EVERYONE can have time off.
- Have all of your favorite foods in the house.
- Make plans to go to do things you never get time to do – the beach, the zoo, parks, museums, ballgames…or just sleep until 9 am.
- It doesn’t hurt to take your time off during the Olympics.
- Learn to say no – set boundaries so you CAN RELAX!
