I LOVE baseball – and a really love Miami Marlins baseball. Back in the day, I’d sit in the front row at FanFest, ready with lots of questions.
So it probably goes without saying that I’m absolutely stoked about the upcoming Miami Marlins 2015 season. In preparation, I had the team’s director of marketing, Matt Britten, on the air to update us on the latest.
“The core of this team has been coming together for quite a few years, and it’s been really exciting to see,” Britten said.
He cited moves like:
– The signing of Giancarlo Stanton.
– Significant upgrades such as Aaron Crow, Michael Morse, Mat Latos.
“This is my 13th season now, and I don’t know if I’ve seen as complete of a team in my time here,” he said. “It’s a long way to go, but going into Spring Training I feel really good about this group of guys.”
In addition to moves in the lineup, the team is making moves in the area with the Ayudan Week 2015, the Marlins’ annual celebration of community engagement. It kicks off on Sunday, February 15, and culminates at Marlins Park with the 2015 Miami Marlins Winter Warm-Up on February 21.
Marlins players will be at some 30 different events along the way.
And I’m really excited about the new Baseball to Business (B2B) program, an initiative involving strategic networking events, special engagements, speaker series and luncheons.
“The thought was, ‘Let’s dive deep into this and find out which season ticket holders, current and new, would be interested in really getting together and meeting other season ticket holders and seeing how their businesses can work off each other,'” Britten said.
“We wanted to get on board with that and make sure our folks were getting to know each other, and if the Marlins can help a couple of businesses get together and help each other out, we want to make sure we’re doing that.”
We talked about a lot more, including Suite Nights and how you can get access to Marlins Park suites without breaking the bank.
