I just love Miami. I think it’s the center of the universe, and I don’t know why anyone would want to live anyplace else.
There’s something big going on every single month. If you doubt me, just check the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau web site and see for yourself.
Miami has completely changed from the days when I was growing up here. In my youth, Miami was more like a scene from the movie Porky’s. You’d pick up your friends, drive around on all of the dark streets trying to scare them, then go home.
That was about it.
Unless there was a concert at the jai alai fronton. Remember the Bruce Springsteen show there? Wow!
Remember the dog track on South Beach? Now that spot has luxury condos.
Remember all of those hotels built by Irving Miller in Sunny Isles? The Dezers have turned that into an oasis.
Miami has really evolved, and it’s in large part due to the efforts of the CVB to promote everything that’s great about our town.
There are so many careers and family fortunes that are tied to the people the CVB brings here – and to the cooperation of our community leaders that makes things happen.
So, if you have a chance to get here – whether it’s for business or pleasure – get here!
