The University of Miami and its LLM in Real Estate Development
Howard Shapiro served as a director and the senior vice president of Pacific International Equities, Inc., for over 25 years. During his tenure, the firm was Miami Beach’s largest luxury condominium high-rise developer. His responsibilities included overseeing Pacific’s acquisitions, planning, design, development and marketing of the company’s condominium projects, comprising approximately 4,500 units whose market value exceeded $750,000,000.
Some of these projects included mixed-use components among them – notably Sunset Harbour Marina, a 125-slip, state-of-the-art, full-service marina in Miami Beach.
Because of his experience, expertise and significant contribution to the built environment, he was asked in 1997 by the University of Miami School of Law to assist its LLM Program in Real Property Development. He is a member of the program’s Adjunct Faculty as its Developer in Residence.
Mary Wolff is a student in the program. She is from St.Louis. Her great-grandmother started a small real estate investment company in St. Louis, beginning with her first purchase of a small duplex in the downtown district. Mary will give us the student’s perspective on the program.
We discuss the University of Miami’s LLM in Real Estate Development and its impact on the Miami development community.
